When investing in stocks, real estate or other investments we generally look at past performance of the investment. We use this past performance as a guide and from there we try to project what this investment will do for us in the future. The same goes true when choosing a commercial /investment real estate agent.
Randy West the Broker/Owner of The Realty Company of Watertown has a past performance that is 2nd to none in NE South Dakota. Randy is home grown. That being born, raised and still resides in Watertown. He graduated high school in Watertown in 1976 then went on to Lake AREA Vocational Tech and graduated from a 2 year program in Building Trades technology. After graduating Lake Area Tech in 1978 he went into the construction business for approx 2 years. In 1979 Randy chose to get involved in the Real Estate Business (Century 21) which his father Bob West owned. At that time Randy was mainly involved in residential sales and was consistently a top producer within the Century 21 system. This continued until 1988. In 1988 Randy moved to Mesa Arizona and was involved in the Recreational Vehicle industry. He was a consistent top sales person for Painted Desert RV Center. In 1992 Randy made the decision to move back to South Dakota and open his own Real Estate office. He became partners with his father (a very accomplished Real Estate agent and developer) and another gentleman( Don Janvrin) whom was an executive at Terex Telect a leading manufacturer in Watertown with over 600 employees. For quite some time, The GMAC Office which he owned had over 80% market share in Watertown and dominated the market for over 5 years. Randys partners (his father and Don Janvrin) passed away in the early 2000’s and Randy continued on in the business doing business as The Realty Company of Watertown. From 1992 to present time Randy has focused mainly on the commercial and investment side of the Real Estate Business. Randy has developed, constructed, leased and sold many strip centers and free standing commercial properties and worked with many national companies in their site acquisitions. From 2003 -2005 Randy was an investor and active partner in “Cobbs Distributing”. Cobbs set up over 45 dealers and sold over 800 corn burning stoves. A new product that uses the burning of corn for a heat source. 2005 to present Randy has been involved in the commercial real estate industry along with having ownership of a very successful casino.
Randy has 2 very successful sons that are his life. The oldest (Bobby)lives in Orlando and is pursuing a career in golf and is doing everything it takes to make it to the PGA Tour. The youngest (Colby ) lives in Las Vegas and is a design engineer for Tesla Motors
Randy’s Strong points, if they can be summed up, are that he has always enjoyed selling and working with investors, sellers of investment properties, and helping tenants find that “Just Right” location. He has a passion for helping investors examine the #’s on properties and assisting in Making a Deal.
